Gilchrist Backs Hoadley for Michigan’s 6th Congressional District

Lieutenant Governor Garlin Gilchrist will be the special guest at State Representative Hoadley’s first major fundraising event on May 17th. The announcement of Lt. Governor Gilchrist’s support comes after an incredible three week post-launch period for Hoadley where he has locked up key endorsements and made laid important groundwork for his campaign in Michigan’s 6th Congressional District.

Hoadley expressed his gratitude early Wednesday morning stating, “I’m honored to receive the endorsement of a leader like Lt. Gov Gilchrist. The Lieutenant Governor has been a strong voice for Michiganders and has consistently helped those who’ve been denied a fair shake at the American Dream.”  Hoadley continued saying he is eager to work closely with Gilchrist to ensure the voices of his constituents are heard and that their concerns are being accurately reflected throughout both state and federal governments.

Gilchrist has been an advocate for progressive values and innovation in Michigan his entire life. In his time as a public servant, he has advocated for the rights of all Michiganders and worked to implement online tools for connecting Detroit citizens with city officials to report municipal problems. As a leading voice for increasing technology’s role in government, Lieutenant Governor Gilchrist has provided critical resources for public servants and promotes the value of investing in technology.

“Jon Hoadley is the ideal person to represent southwest Michigan in Congress,” said Gilchrist. “I can’t think of anyone more qualified to ensure that people and communities are in the center of our decisions in Washington.” Gilchrist added, “Jon is a proven leader, champion of LGBTQ rights, and a dedicated servant of all people. His track record in the Michigan State House of Representatives demonstrates that a vote for Hoadley is truly a vote for a better Michigan.”

Gilchrist’s support comes as a major campaign endorsement from a Michigan leader. Over the past three weeks, Hoadley has locked up the support of the Michigan Nurses Association, Communication Workers of America, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Southwest Michigan Building and Construction Trades, and UA local 357. Jon has also spent the last several weeks meeting with voters throughout Southwest Michigan on a listening tour, getting to hear from folks in the community about the issues important to them and what their priorities in Washington are.
